YAY it's Electric Picnic time!

I went sailing this morning. It was for a magazine article about Tim Goodbody who is a sailor and will be competing in the next olympics. Poor me with my stressful job. Next tuesday I'm going to fly a plane. funsies.


In Electric Picnic news, I'm very excited but also scared of the whole camping thing as I haven't done it in about 10 years now (how old do I sound) used to go camping all the time at all the festivals around Europe.. been to Reading when I was 16, then also Bizarre and Hurricane festivals in Germany, Pukklepop in Holland, Wechter in Belgium and loads more... for some reason it wasn't as muddy back then.. mabye that's because they weren't in Ireland. But sure, it will be grand. I'm gonna be workin all weekend but am not going to stress myself like Oxegen. Looking forward to a chilled weekend (so at least we'll have the VIP campsite, although I don't know what difference that would make really, fingers crossed for proper loos) shooting the bands I'd like to shoot and hopefully will get in some backstagy stuff too. I hope everyone has a great time and say hello if you see me.

Happy Friday!

what a busy week! And does anyone else feel like time is passing so fast these days? How can it already be Electric Picnic time! (one week to go!! woohoo!) and how come my diary is almost finished?? ( I have a jewish diary, meaning it finishes in around mid Sept when the Jewish new year starts- handy for school diaries!) However, since I am not in school, I need a new diary!!
Went to the press launch opening thingy of the new Urban Outfitters in Dundrum. It's a huge store so if you're around that way it's worth checking out. Thanks to Thinkhouse for the goodybag (although the only thing I'll use in it I think is the vodka. Does anyone want: A porcelain money bank; 15 sheets of wrapping paper; 2 orange bird shaped candles; a neon green cage with a plastic singing bird- it actually sings when you put batteries) Corina got a mini fan you plug into your computer with usb which could be kinda useful.

Did a very interesting photoshoot with hot hot hot Emma Q yesterday along with a few long friends... Here is amazing hairdresser Marjorie Mongan and fab makeup artist Lara Ford giving final touches.. photees up soon. It's been work work work non stop this week (I ain't complainin) but am also looking forward to the weekend. Also, tomorrow night the amazingness which is Thinkhouse PR is hosting the launch for Wrangler's THIS IS WANTED in South William- should be funsies. Who's going?

My internet has been down all weekend (crysies) as a self confessed internet/blog addict, I found it quite hard to cope and just ended up grumpy on the couch watching Xfactor and crying a billion times when people didn't make it. (and also when they did make it.) On Sunday Did a photoshoot with the Kinetiks which was fun, what lovely bunch of guys. Check out their tunes on their myspace. Was doing pics for Wrangler's THIS IS WANTED in Dundrum yesterday and then headed back into town to meet up with Una for some after work bevvies. Headed to FL for a few and randomly saw Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood just outside. As I was coming straight from work I had my camera so I managed to grab a few snaps. Corina and Dee then joined us in Dorans to check out the awesome Stagger Lee. Support Sweet Jane were cool too.

Irish Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of The Year Awards 2007

Earlier on today I was one of the judges at the Specsavers model search along with Rosanna Davidson, Sinead Desmond and Caoimhe Young (of The Sunday World). Congratulations to gorgeous Rosie O'Brien who won! At just 16, Rosie is just enterning her Leaving Cert year. She has always wanted a career in modelling but also harbours a keen interest in fashion, so she may go on to study fashion design.
Congratulations to Specsavers for organising this great event (and for my new beautiful Ralph Lauren glasses). My other great goodies included makeup from Brown Sugar (lovesies) and a Steintravel Gift Card which I am just about to check the balance of online. Holiday here I come!

Naomi was the first model i ever did a shoot with back in the day. I was shitting myself that day while still in college. I did the shoot in college in our studio and it was the first time I got a makeup artist and it was seriously a very scary experience. I couldn't sleep the night before because I was so nervous. I was so delighted then when Assets loved the shots! Naomi told me today how she got an Avoca campaign thanks to those shots so yay! Well it's funny how time flies....

I am next time going to attempt to try take some good photees with my crap camera phone. It takes the crappiest photees but surely if I tried a bit harder I'd be able to take some good ones... I'm just a bit embarrased going to the front pretending I'm a photographer with a small camera phone. But posting crap photees on a photoblog is seriously not cool.

My amazing friend Marita who I know from my UCD time is playing a gig in the Sugarclub tonight so if anyone is around check her out with her music partner Jean.

Jean and Marita’s music is an original blend of jazz, pop, and blues. Although they have been songwriting partners for six years, they have always performed separately with different bands, and are now gigging together for the first time. Their lyrical music tells stories of heartbreak, longing, escapism, and unrequited love, with Marita’s sweet, lilting voice perfectly complemented by Jean’s emotive piano arrangements.

Jean Hackett (keyboard) is a native of Dublin, and a professional piano teacher. Having studied piano since childhood, she holds a diploma in classical performance from the prestigious London College of Music. Jean chose to broaden her musical education by studying jazz performance for two years at the highly-regarded Newpark Music Centre in Dublin. She has done gigs in New York and Dublin. She has an eclectic taste in music, and is a big fan of The Doors.

Marita Connolly (vocals) is also a Dubliner, and has studied both piano and voice since childhood. She spent three years studying music in University College Dublin and left with an honours degree. She works full-time as a piano teacher, devoting her free time to songwriting. Her favourite singers are Judy Collins, Ella Fitzgerald and Joni Mitchell.
